Prairie Ridge provides assessments and ongoing psychiatry treatment services with both onsite and telehealth providers. Treatment is offered for children through geriatric patients. Services can be accessed via walk-in hours or by scheduling an appointment.
Diagnoses treated include depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia spectrum disorders, and substance use disorders. The telehealth process occurs via a Telehealth system (Video/Audio System in private rooms) set up to provide quicker access to needed appointments. Patients have access to psychiatrists, Psychiatric ARNPs and internists to meet their medication needs.
Patients with treatment resistant depression can be evaluated for interventional psychiatric services, including esketamine, transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), or electroconvulsive therapy (ECT). TMS and ECT are not offered on-site so would be referred elsewhere.
Esketamine (Spravato) is a nasal spray that has proven effective in lessening treatment resistant depression. It is designed to work in conjunction with an oral antidepressant for treatment resistant depression. Treatment with this medication requires that you be at Prairie Ridge for 2 hours each time you receive it. In the beginning, you will receive the medication twice per week for 4 weeks. Then you move to weekly treatment for another 4 weeks. After that, you move to treatment once every 2 weeks. Many patients require this medication on a routine basis going forward and generally continue to receive it every 2 – 3 weeks.
Spravato is not indicated for patients with bipolar disorder nor those with a history of substance use disorders.
